Blessing Day

There a couple of reasons why it's taken me so long to post pictures of Nathan & Alexa's blessing day. First, it was such a crazy day with so many people & going from house to house, we just didn't do a good job at picture taking. There are no pictures of just the babies in their blessing outfits & none with our little family. Sad, huh? We might have to recreate the day & take some of those pictures this Sunday or something.

The second reason is that it's been a bit of a rough week with the babies. They really haven't been the same since we evacuated to Dallas. I don't know if it's that or just their age; I've read some things about babies changing around 6-8 weeks old. They're still good babies, just struggling. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if there were just one, but with two & trying to pump 7 times a day, it's quite challenging to do anything. We're working through it though!

So anyway, here are a few pictures. I am one of the most blessed people in the world to still have all 4 of my grandparents. They were all able to come down for the weekend which was SO wonderful. I can't even explain what it means to me to have them here to see the babies & celebrate their special day. Nathan & Alexa also have wonderful grandparents who were all here & aunts, uncles & cousins. They only ones missing were Zack, who is on his mission, & Amy's family. Amy is just about to have Nathan & Alexa's new cousin. We miss them & can't wait to meet Baby Boy Baker #2!

I have some more pictures & am still gathering from other sources. I will probably post some later. But the blessings were wonderful. Alexa was blessed by Grandpa John & Nathan by Grandpa Ron. Sam has always wanted it that way & it was very special. Alexa wore the dress I was blessed in & Nathan wore the outfit that my brothers & nephews have worn. They didn't make a peep during the whole blessing. It was a very special day filled with special people. I will never forget it!

They are so sweet. Sounds like such a special day you guys had. And don't feel bad about not getting pictures of the babies alone... a little secret, I forgot to do that with both of my girls! I put them back in their outfits a few days after the blessing and took pictures then when I realized I didn't get any. There is just too much going on and family all around it's easy to forget! So I say, dress them back up and get pictures then!! :)

We can't wait to meet little Nathan and Alexa! Maybe we can catch you guys sometime when you come visit Utah for the holidays?!

I don't have any good pics from Savannah & Ky's blesisng day either. :( And I planned to recreate the day and never did...so hopefully you are better at remembering then I was . :) Blessing days are so special but just seem so rushed and a little stressful... at least it was for us.
Either way, Nathan & Alexa looked just beautiful/handsome...sorry Nathan :). They looked just like little angels. Both grandpa's did such an amazing job on their blessings! We were so happy to be a part of their special day!
Sorry to hear it is a little harder right now... wish I lived closer and could help! Hopefully it's just a phase, but if not just hang in there. You are doing such an amazing job and it will get a little easier with age. Love ya bunches!

I don't have any pictures of Will alone either on his blessing day-oh well! So cute! I really wish we could have been there! Some day soon we will get all these crazy Oldroyd cousins together!

37 Weeks 2 Days

It's almost the end! I saw Dr. Adam last Thursday and I'm starting to spill protein and swell a little. But my BP is good! So we'll see what happens when I see her this Thursday. We may have to deliver early! I have mixed feelings about that because I really wanted to make it to 39 weeks, and my parents can't come until the 14th. But Sam is worried about my kidneys. So we'll see. Baby girl was 6.5 lbs last week. Even if she comes this week, she'll probably be about 7 lbs! Me on the other hand... I've gained 40 lbs! I have 5 lbs to go to be where I was with my other deliveries. Let's see if I get there! :)

Play Date

Today we got together with another set of twins! Caden & Addison are just a month younger than Nathan & Alexa and were born at Texas Women's also! I met their mom (Laurie) through an email list I got on while on bed rest in the hospital. There was another mom who was supposed to join us who also has boy/girl twins their age-- but she couldn't make it. What a picture that would have been!

Nathan McKay Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:37 a.m., weighs 5 lbs. 8.5 oz, & is 20 in. long Alexa Dawn Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:38 a.m., weighs 4 lbs. 5.5 oz, & is 1 6.75 in. long We are so excited that they are finally here! The C-Section went very well & Alisha is recovering well, with the help of pain meds! Nathan needs quite a bit of help with breathing but is improving. We’re told that he may get his ventilator tube out today & they would help him breathe using a C-pap. He breathes ok on his own so he mostly now just needs some pressure to remind him to breathe. He is still in the highest level of the NICU but is doing well. He’ll be in there for at least a few days after we get to go home. Alexa is tiny but doing extremely well. Alisha was able to hold her while still in the OR before she needed some oxygen help. She only had to stay on the oxygen until 11 a.m. and is still in the lower level NICU.
