Missed the Kodak moment...

I just had to post this even though by the time I went for the camera, it was over. I was sitting here looking at an email while the babies laid facing each other. They were getting kind of fussy, as it is almost nap time. Lexie had spit out her binkie (again) & wasn't too happy about it. All of the sudden I hear this loud *suck suck suck suck...* & I assume Lexie was sucking on her fist or something. But no, I finally look over and Nathan has his pinkie in Lexie's mouth & she's going to town on it! SO SWEET! I'm just sad I didn't get it on camera!!!

Aren't these babies adorable?

And my mom took this when they were here this past weekend. Too bad Alexa missed out on this napping party! Don't feel bad for her; I'm sure she was being held by someone else!

Blessing Day

Image
There a couple of reasons why it's taken me so long to post pictures of Nathan & Alexa's blessing day. First, it was such a crazy day with so many people & going from house to house, we just didn't do a good job at picture taking. There are no pictures of just the babies in their blessing outfits & none with our little family. Sad, huh? We might have to recreate the day & take some of those pictures this Sunday or something. The second reason is that it's been a bit of a rough week with the babies. They really haven't been the same since we evacuated to Dallas. I don't know if it's that or just their age; I've read some things about babies changing around 6-8 weeks old. They're still good babies, just struggling. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if there were just one, but with two & trying to pump 7 times a day, it's quite challenging to do anything. We're working through it though! So anyway, here are a few...

Images of Me

My sister-in-law Amy did this on her blog & I thought I'd be a fun activity to work on while I'm pumping so here it goes! Anyone who wants to play along feel free. Here is what you do: Google search images of the answer to the following questions, then pick your favorite image. The images can be obvious or somewhat cryptic- that's what makes it fun! If you need any clarification of my images let me know in the comments. It takes some time, but its fun! Cousins

Nathan & Alexa loved meeting their cousins! Just found out that our power is already back! Now I'm trying to find a way home!

Ike Update

Image
Sam & the dogs made it through the worst of the storm. Fortunately, our house did too! We have some damage to our backyard fence but other than that, Sam said everything held up. We don't know how long the power will be out but luckily, we do have phone still. Sam's parents' house did ok too, which we're so grateful for because they have big trees behind their house. They do not have phone, though. Hopefully all of our friends fared as well as we did. I feel incredibly blessed & I know other's will not come home to as favorable of conditions, especially those on the coast. Thank you for all of your concern & prayers! Hopefully the tropical winds won't be too bad here up in Dallas. If so, Joan & I might just head on up to Kansas City to see Amy, Ryan & William !! Here are some neat pictures Marianne took of the sky before the storm came in last night. Pretty cool, huh?

There's a Storm a comin'...

Image
Hurricane Ike is headed straight for Houston. Great. It originally looked like it'd stay far enough south that we'd be ok but good ol ' Ike decided to head north. I had an uneasy feeling all day yesterday & made a list of things I'd need to pack, just in case. Around 4 pm, an update came from the National Hurricane Center that the storm had moved & I decided I was OUTA THERE. Where we live, the biggest danger is the wind. Wind = No Power. No Power = No pumping. No Pumping = loose my milk. I would be ticked if that happened all from a stupid storm. I also didn't want to be stuck there with 5 week old babies! Who could blame me? I luckily didn't have to drive up to Dallas by myself. A nice lady who's husband goes to church with us was going up alone too so she offered to drive me. It was SO nice because she had a big SUV & I could take all the baby stuff I needed plus be able to sit in the back with them. So we headed out on Nathan & Alexa...

Ten Things That I LOVE...

Image
1.) My Fisher-Price Infant to Toddler Rockers that makes simultaneously bottle feeding the babies MUCH easier! Thanks for the inspiration Smith & Addison ! 2.) That despite what many people said, I still LOVE my puppies like crazy. They are gentle with the babies & show no signs of jealousy, also despite what some people said. 3.) The fact that my babies can be fussy but if I lie them facing each other they immediately calm down. 4.) My Avent bottle warmer. 5.) The way a newborn curls their legs underneath them when they sleep on their tummy! (Don't worry-- I put them to sleep on their back... they just fell asleep during tummy time!) 6.) The fact that Alexa always has her hands by her face... I laugh at this picture because it's like she's saying, "Just 5 more minutes mom!" 7.) That my wonderful husband has a son to teach everything he knows to. In this case, he's teaching Nathan about watching football! Such handsome boys I have, huh? (Ok- I know S...

Non-Baby related...

**Warning: this post contains nothing about Nath an & Alexa. If you are one of the many that only check my blog to find out about them, keep scrolling down-- their "One Month Old" post is below this one!** So I just finished reading Breaking Dawn (yes, I'm in love with the vampire books too!) The only reason it's taken me so long is that the babies were born the day "my book" arrived in the mail. My sister had pre-ordered it for me for my birthday but since she was here, she stole it! Don't worry, the nice sister that she is... she bought me another birthday present. But that still left me with no book! So my sister-in-law kindly brought it over to me 3, count them THREE days ago. How do I have time to read a 754 page novel in 3 days you ask? Well, I credit that to the roughly 6 hours a day I spend feeding the "Ugly Baby" (a.k.a. pumping). So basically... I loved it. I had heard mixed feelngs about it... but I just adored every si...

One Month Old!!

Image
Nathan & Alexa are ONE MONTH OLD today! I just can't believe how fast they're growing! They really are such sweet babies... I am definitely being rewarded for my difficult pregnancy! I am grateful to Heavenly Father every single day that I'm lucky enough to be their mother. Here is a short little video of them from today. I tried 3 times to get one where Alexa didn't end up squawking by the end... but to no avail. Honestly, when the camera wasn't on they just laid there & "talked." We even got Lexie's first real smiles right before this video... she loves her brother! I took the babies on their first walk the other night & then Grandma Joan & I took them on another one today. Grandma Joan said it best when she said pushing their stroller was like driving a Cadillac! Ok, maybe not as fancy but definitly LONG! I also have to put this dorky mosquito netting over the car seats... gotta love all the bugs down here in the Sou...
