One Month Old!

Max was ONE MONTH OLD yesterday! He's growing so fast, like babies do. He's around 8 lbs now & still a scrawny little guy but he's getting bigger! He is SO sweet & I just love to cuddle him. Here are some facts about Max: He is very long waisted, has long arms, long fingers, long feet & long toes. Hopefully he'll be a basketball player! He loves to eat He gets hiccups a LOT-- just like he did in my tummy. He also sneezes a lot! He absolutely LOVES his binky & needs to be swaddled to sleep. He has started to give me smiles in the morning after he eats. He has starting making some cooing sounds. He has his mommy wrapped around his tiny little finger. (I'm crazy about this little man!!) Nathan & Alexa are doing great. Its so fun to hear their vocabulary increase. They learn new things & amaze me all of the time. Their new favorite thing is Elmo, & Nathan loves Ernie too. That will help on the long drive to Utah we ha...

Peaceful Once Again

Image
Max started out as the perfect baby. Nursing went smoothly, he slept well, had peaceful & calm wake time, & started sleeping 4 hour stretches at night by 2 weeks old. Right around then things started to get more difficult. He started eating slower, pulling away & never acting satisfied. Then came the tummy pains. Then the sleepless nights. I knew something wasn't right. So after praying & talking to some experienced moms, I decided that he probably had reflux, even though he wasn't spitting up a ton. I took him into the doctor this morning & the pediatrician agreed. We got a prescription & instructions to give him some Mallox in the mean time to help coat his burned throat. It made an immediate difference & I have my perfect little Max back. He's been eating well, happy after he eats & sleeping peacefully. I know it's such a small thing, and so many babies have reflux, but I'm grateful it's something treatable &...

2 Weeks Old... a little late

Max is really 3 weeks old but I'm lacking in time to update my blog these days... wonder why?!?!? But I like to keep my updated records here so I can continue to procrastinate filling in the baby book (still working on Nathan & Alexa's). Max saw the pediatrician for his 2 week check up last Friday. Here are his stats: Weight: 7 lbs. (6th-10th %) Length: 21 inches (19th-22nd %) Head: 37 cm (35th-40th %) Max has been a really good baby but has some issues with his tummy, poor guy. I'm off dairy & that seems to be helping some. We're working on it... it's for things like this that I wish babies came with instruction manuals. It would be so helpful have something that said, "Hi, I'm your Baby. It will hurt my tummy if you eat this, this & this." But alas, no manual. Max is an excellent night sleeper & has never had his days & nights confused. I feed him around 11 pm & at 2 weeks old, he started only getting up ...

Visit from Aunt Amanda

Last weekend, my sister drove down from Dallas to meet Maxwell & spend time with the rest of us. It was nice to have her here & nice to have an extra set of hands to help out! Amanda has her own photography business, Amanda Behrmann Photography , & as her sister, I get to reap the benefits of her talent for free! Here are some pictures she took:

Good to be HOME

Image
I got home Friday night. I'm tired & my body is worn out but its healing, so that's a good thing. The one wonderful thing about being in the hospital is there was lots of time to snuggle & stare at our cute little man... But it was SO good to come home & see these little monkeys! They make me laugh... and sometimes they make me want to go back to the hospital... but I love them & missed them so I'll stay. We were all interested to see what Max would really be like when I was off all of the narcotics for pain. Well... he's still the best baby around. I love this little face! And I definitely couldn't have done any of this without this guy. He goes back to work today & we'll miss having Daddy around all of the time! (I also couldn't have done it without my Mom... but she has an amazing ability to stay out of pictures! I'll get you Mom!)
