Lexie Laughs!

I am SO glad I got this on video. We had gotten a giggle or two out of Lexie when tickeling her but she really laughed for the first time today. I had both babies in their Bumbo chairs & was trying to get Nathan to look up at me so I could take their picture. She just started laughing for no apparent reason! It was SO CUTE!

A Thankful Heart

I had a fantastic Thanksgiving this year. The food was wonderful, the company was superb & I got to have my first big holiday as a mother. I am grateful for so many things in my life; my entire family (both on the Partridge & Oldroyd sides), my Savior, the gospel, my house, the many conveniences of life I enjoy every day, friends, sleep, ice cream... many many important things. But I am overwhelmed with gratitude in my heart for these 3 people: To Sam: It is impossible to express how much my love for you has grown over the past 4 months. I knew you would be a great daddy but you have exceeded all of my hopes & expectations. I could not do this without you. You are a wonderful companion & try so hard to be everything that I need. I love you. To Nathan: My little man. I love your silly smiles & how you nuzzle your face into my shoulder when I hold you. You had such a rough start but worked so hard to overcome the challenges & have never looked back. I ...

Now THAT'S Progress!

The night time sleep situation at the Oldroyd home has just gotten a little bit better! Previously, the babies were eating every 3 hours during the day starting at 7am & their last feeding was at 10pm, followed by a bath & then in bed before 11. The other day I realized that they weren't seeming as hungry every 3 hours so we tried a 3 1/2 hour time span & it's working! We still start at 7am but are now down to 5 feedings a day, the last one being at 9pm. So they're in bed by 10! Not bad huh? We'll try this for a few weeks or so then see if we can't move to a 4 hour routine. I'm sure lovin my cute sleepin-through-the-night babies!

What We've Been Up To

Image
I haven't really posted much in a little while. Nothing much has been going on other than the day-to-day excitement of life! Here's a little update, though, on each member of our family: Sam : Sam's just been working hard at work & home. His job is going well & we're all looking forward to a lot of time off over the next couple of months. He has about 20 vacation days which have to be used by a certain date so he'll be able to be home all next week, for 2 1/2 weeks over Christmas/New Years, a week in January for our Mexico trip, & a few other random days. He is such a good husband & Daddy & the babies can't get enough of him. I can't either! Me : I've been sick. I got a nasty cold last week that totally wiped me out. Unfortunately I can't take a day off to recoup with my current full-time job. I have had some help from Sam's mom, sister & our good friend Grandma Linda, who comes & helps with the babies on a re...

Guess its in the genes

Sam's friend Jonathan made this. Sorry for the "vulgarity" but those who know Sam well will find this hilarious. For those of you not from Texas, Whataburger is Sam's favorite fast food place. (And mine too, actually... I kept our local one in business while pregnant!)

Shannon

Image
This is Shannon Campbell . She is the reason that I know Sam. For those of you who have known me since before I met him, Shannon was my roommate that summer in Provo who made up "Tori West" & I helped her with that prank on Sam by becoming Tori. The rest is history. (If you want to know the full story, come over & read the page in my wedding album!) Shannon suffered from Cystic Fibrosis & passed away last month. I just found out today, her birthday. We lost touch a long time ago but I think of her often & have been looking at her blog all day. She lived a marvelous life. I am grateful for her & so happy that she is now resting in the peaceful arms of her Savior.

Funny

I'm stealing this from Carianne's blog. Who says Mormons don't know how to have a good time? This is HI-LARIOUS! I can totally see some Richmond Ward folk recreating this... I won't name names. We should do a talent show!

Sad.

We have our first illness. Alexa has a bad ear infection. She is not loving this new thing. We started antibiotics & ear drops tonight so hopefully she'll feel better soon. I know this goes without saying but there isn't much worse in this life than the helpless feeling of watching your child in pain. Wish this was the last time that would happen...
