Happy Birthday Sam!

How ironic is it that Sam is a tax accountant with a birthday on April 16th? His profession was meant to be. Each year we get to celebrate him on a day when we're already celebrating the end of tax season! This year was especially hard with 2 active toddlers & one VERY pregnant mommy... but we made it!

For Sam's birthday, we had a delicious dinner over at his parent's. We had a great time! The kids & I bought Sam a pot, soil & rose bush. Might seem like an odd gift but he had bought one for himself a while back that didn't make it-- the guy loves stuff like that. Anyhow, I have no idea how to pick out rose bushes so he ended up taking the one I bought back & getting another one. Whatever makes him happy! But he got it planted & it looks beautiful sitting on our back patio!
Sam is such a good husband & daddy. He works hard for our family & helps out at home a lot (during non-tax season of course). Both kids ADORE him. I'm so grateful to have him as my partner in life. One of my biggest fears was having this baby during tax season. I know people would have helped, and of course my Mom would be here, but I NEED Sam while recovering & I didn't want him to miss out on those first few days. We are lucky to have him! I love you Sam!

On a side note-- how cute are these kids?!?!

Today we got together with another set of twins! Caden & Addison are just a month younger than Nathan & Alexa and were born at Texas Women's also! I met their mom (Laurie) through an email list I got on while on bed rest in the hospital. There was another mom who was supposed to join us who also has boy/girl twins their age-- but she couldn't make it. What a picture that would have been!

Nathan McKay Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:37 a.m., weighs 5 lbs. 8.5 oz, & is 20 in. long Alexa Dawn Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:38 a.m., weighs 4 lbs. 5.5 oz, & is 1 6.75 in. long We are so excited that they are finally here! The C-Section went very well & Alisha is recovering well, with the help of pain meds! Nathan needs quite a bit of help with breathing but is improving. We’re told that he may get his ventilator tube out today & they would help him breathe using a C-pap. He breathes ok on his own so he mostly now just needs some pressure to remind him to breathe. He is still in the highest level of the NICU but is doing well. He’ll be in there for at least a few days after we get to go home. Alexa is tiny but doing extremely well. Alisha was able to hold her while still in the OR before she needed some oxygen help. She only had to stay on the oxygen until 11 a.m. and is still in the lower level NICU.
