What a week!

To make a VERY long story short, I'm in the hospital. I've been here since last Tuesday evening. It started with kidney stones, which fortunately, as of last night, I think I might be done with (for now at least). The last kidney stones I had don't even hold a candle to these ones... holy cow. I didn't think that much pain was possible. Anyhow, the kidney stones put me into labor & it took me a while to realize it because it was the middle of the night & I was doped up on Morphine. So lots of stuff has happened & I've been drugged up most of the week. I am finally feeling better, not being on the morphine & I'm also able to be on a less aggressive drug for my contractions. I may end up having to stay here until the babies come (whenever that is) due to the fact that at some point each day, they have to take measures to slow my contractions down & all I'm doing is laying in a bed. But I have TV, movies & the reason I'm blogging now is my wonderful sister came to visit & brought me a computer! I just love the 21st century-- that this old hospital even has wireless! I've also had lots of phone calls & Sam, his mom, sister & now my sister as visitors. So I'm doing great! They monitor the babies 3 times every 24 hours & they're doing well also. But that's why I've been MIA. I'll post more when I know more. My doctor wasn't on call all weekend so I haven't seen her since Friday night but she should come tonight & tell me what's up. These babies better be good when they come out!!!

Alicia! I talked to Joan on Thurs. night and she told me all about you! I am so so sorry! I really hope you don't have to stay there until they come! But if you do, I'm sure it will be fine! You are great to stay so positive!

Holy cow! I'm glad you and the babies are doing well now, and you are keeping yourself occupied! I hope those babies will hold out just a little longer for you so they can grow bigger! Thanks for the update, keep us posted when you can!!

I'm sorry to hear you are in the hospital. I hope you don't have to stay until the end of your pregnancy and I hope those contractions hold off so your babies can get bigger and healthier. Thanks for updating your blog, I've got my husband reading it to now! We love learning about how your pregnancy is going. I hope you are feeling better soon!!

Yikes! It is so not fair that you have kidney stones while you're pregnant. Talk about adding insult to injury. We love you and are thinking of and praying for you!! Those sweet babes better hold off a few weeks!

It's almost the end! I saw Dr. Adam last Thursday and I'm starting to spill protein and swell a little. But my BP is good! So we'll see what happens when I see her this Thursday. We may have to deliver early! I have mixed feelings about that because I really wanted to make it to 39 weeks, and my parents can't come until the 14th. But Sam is worried about my kidneys. So we'll see. Baby girl was 6.5 lbs last week. Even if she comes this week, she'll probably be about 7 lbs! Me on the other hand... I've gained 40 lbs! I have 5 lbs to go to be where I was with my other deliveries. Let's see if I get there! :)

Today we got together with another set of twins! Caden & Addison are just a month younger than Nathan & Alexa and were born at Texas Women's also! I met their mom (Laurie) through an email list I got on while on bed rest in the hospital. There was another mom who was supposed to join us who also has boy/girl twins their age-- but she couldn't make it. What a picture that would have been!

Nathan McKay Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:37 a.m., weighs 5 lbs. 8.5 oz, & is 20 in. long Alexa Dawn Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:38 a.m., weighs 4 lbs. 5.5 oz, & is 1 6.75 in. long We are so excited that they are finally here! The C-Section went very well & Alisha is recovering well, with the help of pain meds! Nathan needs quite a bit of help with breathing but is improving. We’re told that he may get his ventilator tube out today & they would help him breathe using a C-pap. He breathes ok on his own so he mostly now just needs some pressure to remind him to breathe. He is still in the highest level of the NICU but is doing well. He’ll be in there for at least a few days after we get to go home. Alexa is tiny but doing extremely well. Alisha was able to hold her while still in the OR before she needed some oxygen help. She only had to stay on the oxygen until 11 a.m. and is still in the lower level NICU.
