Making up for lost time...

Sam & I went to our 2nd doctor appointment today and I've decided that I should finally post more information about my pregnancy! I am 10 weeks and 3 days along and my official due date is September 1st. We were lucky enough to have another ultrasound today and saw something quite shocking.... TWO BABIES!!!!!! Yes, you read that right... TWINS!!!! And as shocked as you feel, you can imagine how shocked Sam and I are! After all... we already had an ultrasound... had no idea that one little stinker was hiding!

The Dr. couldn't get a good picture of both babies because of how they are positioned but here is what we got:

"Baby A" (You can see the other gestational sac)"Baby B" (Upside down!)
"Baby B" & "Baby A's" head

This proves that Heavenly Father has a sense of humor... and all I've been able to do since I found out is laugh! I couldn't be more grateful, terrified, excited, nervous, etc... so many mixed feelings... I feel so blessed.

Well, my friends, I'm going to need all of the help I can get! Right now the best thing you can do for Sam, me and the babies is PRAY! Pray for their health, my sanity, and Sam's patience!

Yea for twins!! :) Life is about to get very exciting! :) :) What a blessing! I am so excited for you and Sam! My best advice.... take it easy and sleep whenever you can b/c soon you won't be getting any sleep! :) We love y'all and can't wait to meet these little ones. Maybe two boys so Savannah & Kylie can have little boyfriends?? :) Soon we will find out....can't wait. You are in our prayers!

Ahhhh!!! I still can't believe it -twins! That is so exciting Alisha! Wow, I can't even imagine what fun times lie ahead for you guys...diapers, formula, and the terrible 2's...what a blessing! Our Heavenly Father DOES have a sense of humor! Congrats and keep us updated:)

i almost died when i read that... how exciting! i always secretly hoped for twins... twice the baby with only one pregnancy (i don't wish much for what it's like once they get here....) congratulations and you and sam will be great parents to those sweet babies!

Holy Crap Alisha! This is so exciting! I know you're probably excited and freaked out at the same time (heaven knows I was with just one baby at a time) so just take it one day at a time. All of you are in my prayers for a happy, healthy family!

WOW! Congrats to you both! That is exciting! I can only imagine what you are feeling like right now! They thought Noah was twins and I was freaked out for a good week, they then told me he was one, I was relieved! We will be praying for you! You and Sam will be wonderful parents!

37 Weeks 2 Days

It's almost the end! I saw Dr. Adam last Thursday and I'm starting to spill protein and swell a little. But my BP is good! So we'll see what happens when I see her this Thursday. We may have to deliver early! I have mixed feelings about that because I really wanted to make it to 39 weeks, and my parents can't come until the 14th. But Sam is worried about my kidneys. So we'll see. Baby girl was 6.5 lbs last week. Even if she comes this week, she'll probably be about 7 lbs! Me on the other hand... I've gained 40 lbs! I have 5 lbs to go to be where I was with my other deliveries. Let's see if I get there! :)

Today we got together with another set of twins! Caden & Addison are just a month younger than Nathan & Alexa and were born at Texas Women's also! I met their mom (Laurie) through an email list I got on while on bed rest in the hospital. There was another mom who was supposed to join us who also has boy/girl twins their age-- but she couldn't make it. What a picture that would have been!

Nathan McKay Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:37 a.m., weighs 5 lbs. 8.5 oz, & is 20 in. long Alexa Dawn Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:38 a.m., weighs 4 lbs. 5.5 oz, & is 1 6.75 in. long We are so excited that they are finally here! The C-Section went very well & Alisha is recovering well, with the help of pain meds! Nathan needs quite a bit of help with breathing but is improving. We’re told that he may get his ventilator tube out today & they would help him breathe using a C-pap. He breathes ok on his own so he mostly now just needs some pressure to remind him to breathe. He is still in the highest level of the NICU but is doing well. He’ll be in there for at least a few days after we get to go home. Alexa is tiny but doing extremely well. Alisha was able to hold her while still in the OR before she needed some oxygen help. She only had to stay on the oxygen until 11 a.m. and is still in the lower level NICU.
