Go Max!

Image
On May 29th, Max had his annual evaluation from Early Childhood Intervention.  He was evaluated last June  & found to be right on track (or ahead) on every category tested except gross motor skills, which he measured 6 months behind.  He started PT with Mr. Wei & finally walked on his 18-month birthday!  He hasn't had PT since then but we've had monthly visits from Ms. Daisy, his ECI case worker. This evaluation was really fun & went well!  The best news is that he DIDN'T re-qualify for the program because he has improved so much!  Yay Max! His motor skills have improved so much over the past few months.  We try to go a lot of places where he can be active & climb.  His upper body is still a little weak but the  climbing  really helps strengthen those muscles he didn't develop.  I'm really proud of how hard he has worked & how far he's come.  He's so much happier now that he can {sort...

Jessica visits texas!

Image
I have known Jess almost my entire life.  We lived just a couple of doors down from each other in Woods Cross, growing up.  Our birthdays are exactly 2 weeks apart (N & A were actually born on her's: August 4th!).  So it was only natural that this be our Halloween costume when we were about 7 or 8ish. Ahhh... memories... Anyhow, we kind of lost touch with moves & growing up but thanks to good ol' Facebook & Blogs, we reconnected a couple of years ago & have been close since.  She lives just a couple of miles from my parents so I see her when I get up to Utah to visit.  I was so excited when she told me she & Avery (her 4 year old) were coming to Texas for a visit! We didn't do much but play, talk, eat & swim... oh there was lots of swimming... It was a blast! Funny story- the day she left, we left the kids with a sitter & went to lunch.  I had been craving Pineapple Curry at Thai Cottage, a dish I hadn't had in YEARS....

Lindsi visits Texas!

Image
A good friend of mine from high school, Brooke, moved down to Texas a couple of years ago.  She lives just 8 miles away, in Katy, & I have LOVED having her close by, although we definitely don't see enough of each other.  WELL... this is the big year when all of my friends {& myself} turns 30!  Brooke's birthday was June 2nd & her AWESOME hubby flew Lindsi down to surprise her!  It was so fun spending time with two of my favorite HS buddies & also a new friend, Vanessa, who moved down her a couple of months ago.  Now if only we could get Lindsi to move here!!!

Sea World!

Image
We took a fun little family trip to Sea World last month & guess who came along? Grandma & Grandpa! Mom & Dad flew in on a Wednesday night (May 16th) & before heading home, we stopped by the temple & did a session.  My parents had never been to the Houston Temple.  It was fun to do a session together but difficult for my parents-- they wanted to get home to see the kids! We left the next morning for San Antonio & spend the next two days at Sea World.  Day 1 Highlights: The park was almost empty-- almost creepy empty! We took the kids on the Shamu roller coaster.  Alexa LOVED it & went a few times.  Nathan did ok but didn't want to go back on & poor Max... he was too short to go. :(  He was DEVASTATED. The kids (especially Nathan) LOVED the Baluga Whale show!  Her name was "Marfa" (Martha) & he still talks about her. We got to feed the Sea Lions - fish & squid! Yum! They loved getting in bathing...

Joy School Graduation

Image
On Tuesday, May 15th, we had a cute little graduation party with our Joy School group at my house.  I made these cute little graduation cap cupcakes & we had some other yummy snacks, the kids wore their caps & sang the joy school song... SO CUTE!  Here's a video of them singing their song-- cutest thing ever! What a fun year we had with our little joy school group!  Nathan & Alexa have grown so much.  I can't wait to see all they learn next year in Preschool!

The Best Mother's Day

Yesterday was great.  Really great.  Here's why: I woke up to breakfast, pictures colored by the kids, a wonderful gift from my husband, & best of all, 3 of my favorite little people giving me hugs, kisses & saying "Happy Mother's Day!"   Sam helped remind the kids to be good for me & helped managed them more than usual so I didn't have to deal with the little things. I finally got to be the women in the congregation at church with tears in their eyes as their kids sang the most adorable little Mother's Day songs.  I've been waiting for this for a long time & it was every bit as wonderful as I had imagined.  We did have to bribe Alexa with candy to go up... she's been going through a little reluctant phase... but once she was up there, she & Nathan both sang the songs & smiled at me.  It was so precious.  I can't wait for next year! Both of the boys were being a little nuts during the rest of the church meeting so my ...

Max's 2 Year Stats

Image
Max visited the pediatrician last week.  He's a growing boy!  Here are his stats: Weight:  27 lbs (36%)    Height:  35 1/2 in (76th%)   Head:  19 1/2 in. (71st%) Max did really well at the doctor's office. He had to have one shot & when the nurse gave it to him, he said, "Ow ow ow! Don't like dat!"  He was pretty mad for a minute but got over it quickly when he got his 4 Thomas stickers! Here is some info about Max at 2: He talks A LOT & has a big vocabulary.  I'm constantly amazed at new words he saying & ways he expresses himself He's all about the laugh - he loves to be silly He loves music & loves to sing. He's really into trains, especially Thomas, just like his brother & sister were at this age. He loves playing with other kids & is learning how to share He loves animals  He still takes a 3 hour nap & sleeps from 8pm-7am.  He is usually begging to go down for his nap by 11am. Still take...
