Sea World!

We took a fun little family trip to Sea World last month & guess who came along? Grandma & Grandpa!

Mom & Dad flew in on a Wednesday night (May 16th) & before heading home, we stopped by the temple & did a session.  My parents had never been to the Houston Temple.  It was fun to do a session together but difficult for my parents-- they wanted to get home to see the kids!

We left the next morning for San Antonio & spend the next two days at Sea World.

 Day 1 Highlights:
  • The park was almost empty-- almost creepy empty!
  • We took the kids on the Shamu roller coaster.  Alexa LOVED it & went a few times.  Nathan did ok but didn't want to go back on & poor Max... he was too short to go. :(  He was DEVASTATED.
  • The kids (especially Nathan) LOVED the Baluga Whale show!  Her name was "Marfa" (Martha) & he still talks about her.
  • We got to feed the Sea Lions - fish & squid! Yum!
  • They loved getting in bathing suits & playing the in splash pad.  We were disappointed that the other kid water stuff was closed since they incorporated it into the new "Aquatica Waterpark" that was opening at the weekend.
  • The kids loved the shark exhibit & seeing the diver in the tank.  The adults loved going indoors cause it was HOT!
  • We saw the Shamu show & it didn't disappoint.  Everyone got wet-- except Nathan somehow!  He just sat there eating his churro while the rest of us got splashed!
  • We stayed in a hotel nearby, which the kids loved.  We made a little bed for Max in the large closet. :)
Day 2 highlights:
  • They had a fun Sesame Street show with the characters.  They kind of freaked Alexa out but she got brave later & gave a few of them a high-five!
  • They also had a 4-D Sesame Street show- complete with spraying water!
  • We saw another Shamu show- this time we sat OUT of the splash zone!  It was as much fun as the first one.  Those animals are amazing!
  • Max was obsessed with the big roller coasters & would have gone on them if he could.  Nathan & Alexa wouldn't even consider going on bigger rides but did ride the Shamu coaster a few more times (Nathan decided he loved it!)
  • After we finished all we wanted to do at Sea World, we headed to the Riverwalk & took a boat tour.  It was so fun!
  • We stayed out last night at the hotel before heading home.
Sea World was SO fun & the kids keep asking to go back.  What made it even better was having Grandpa & Grandma here to enjoy it with us!  As the kids get older, they really look forward more & more to their visits & remember them.  They ask all the time if we can go to the airport to get Grandma & Grandpa (I think Max thinks that's where they live- haha!)  The cutest (and saddest) thing happened when we dropped them off at the airport this time.  When I was putting the kids back in the car after saying their goodbyes, Alexa started to tear up.  It broke my heart & made me grateful at the same time.  I'm glad my kids have two wonderful sets of grandparents that they really love & REALLY miss when they're not around!  Family is the best!
