Lincoln is One!

It has been one great year for our family as we've loved our little Lincoln and watched him grow. He is truly the happiest baby I've ever met and brings all of us joy every day! Here's a little about LJO at 1-year-old:


Weight: 22 lbs 3 oz (64th%)  Length: 30 in. (53rd%)  Head: 19.5 in. (100th%)

  • Lincoln takes 2 good naps a day (he almost always has to be woken up from them) and sleeps 10-11 hours at night. He generally gets up too early, but that has gotten better lately!
  • He has beautiful blue eyes!
  • Has 8 teeth
  • He is a super fast crawler, stands when he's holding onto something, and cruises a little, but doesn't like to stand alone or walk at all.
  • He has a silly personality and funny little fake laugh
  • He loves all of his siblings, but Nathan makes him laugh the most!
  • Lincoln is starting to talk. He says Mom or Mama a lot. He can say a-dah (Dad), gog (Dog), bubu (brother) and nana (night night).
  • He's pretty good at occupying himself, crawling around and playing with different things
  • He loves to get into the dog food and water, but knows he shouldn't, so he warns me when he's near them by yelling
  • He LOVES to clap, raise his hands for "so big!," waves hi and bye, and signs all done
  • Linc loves whole milk and is becoming a great eater. He doesn't care for baby snacks and most non-pureed fruit. But we've discovered he LOVES watermelon and cherries.
  • Loves to get into the cabinets, unroll the toilet paper, empty the pantry, pull out the plug protectors, dump out the dog food and water, unload the dishwasher, and mess up the kitchen rugs
  • He LOVES the bath and gets really mad when anyone takes a bath without him
  • He kneels a lot, which is really cute
  • He loves to kneel in front of the dog door, open it and yell to the dogs or feel the rain
  • Lincoln loves being pulled in the bike trailer and loves to swing!
  • He doesn't like to snuggle and is stingy with his kisses, but they're good when he gives them!
  • He is getting a little separation anxiety but doesn't better when I leave him with at least one of the other kids
  • Lincoln LOVES his daddy
  • He smiles and laughs all day!
  • He still loves his binky
  • His favorite thing to do is play on the bed. He rolls around, sits up, and falls backward
I could go on... He is perfection and we love him to pieces!

Today we got together with another set of twins! Caden & Addison are just a month younger than Nathan & Alexa and were born at Texas Women's also! I met their mom (Laurie) through an email list I got on while on bed rest in the hospital. There was another mom who was supposed to join us who also has boy/girl twins their age-- but she couldn't make it. What a picture that would have been!

Nathan McKay Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:37 a.m., weighs 5 lbs. 8.5 oz, & is 20 in. long Alexa Dawn Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:38 a.m., weighs 4 lbs. 5.5 oz, & is 1 6.75 in. long We are so excited that they are finally here! The C-Section went very well & Alisha is recovering well, with the help of pain meds! Nathan needs quite a bit of help with breathing but is improving. We’re told that he may get his ventilator tube out today & they would help him breathe using a C-pap. He breathes ok on his own so he mostly now just needs some pressure to remind him to breathe. He is still in the highest level of the NICU but is doing well. He’ll be in there for at least a few days after we get to go home. Alexa is tiny but doing extremely well. Alisha was able to hold her while still in the OR before she needed some oxygen help. She only had to stay on the oxygen until 11 a.m. and is still in the lower level NICU.
