Christmas Card 2013

I didn't get around to mailing out a card this year, so we just emailed it!  Here it is:

2013 In Review - Oldroyd Edition

January - Alisha flies solo to Utah to celebrate Grandma Gines' 50th Birthday, we welcome Hank the puppy into our family, Alisha begins a new job working for BYU-I online teaching math. Sam & Alisha go on a cruise to Mexico with the Walkers, kids have a blast at home with Grandma & Grandpa

February - Max is potty trained - no diapers in this house!  He also moves to a toddler bed & gets rid of the binky (unwillingly).  Grandpa Ron comes for a visit during a work trip. Tax season starts - ugh.  

March - Nothing much going on in the Oldroyd home.  Just cute kids & trying to survive without Daddy during tax season.

April -  Grandma Marie & Grandma Great Gines come for a visit over Easter, tax season ends, Daddy turns 35, Maxwell turns 3!

May - Our much awaited trip to Disneyland with the Partridge side of the family comes, SO much fun was had!  Celebrated Grandma Great Dudley's 90th birthday on Mother's Day, Nathan & Alexa graduate from Preschool!

June - We take out first family camping trip, the boys get bunkbeds!  We start swimming lesson - no more floaties for Nathan & Alexa!  Tiffany, Avery, Aric & Addy come for a VERY fun fulled visit!

July - We head up to Utah for our annual summer trip.  Lots of yummy Cafe Rio, swimming with cousins at Uncle Rex's pool, the 24th of July  (Pioneer Day) celebrations!

August -  We begin the month in Utah & head down to our favorite place - the cabin. Nathan & Alexa turn 5! We head home after celebrating & finish off the festivities at the beach with our Oldroyd family. Mommy turns 31.  Nathan & Alexa start KINDERGARTEN!  

September - Sam is back busy at work, Maxwell starts preschool at Ms. Vanessa's, Alisha is able to go to the faculty conference up in Rexburg.  She also is able to finally get off all kidney medications - in total remission for 4 months now!  Nathan learns to ride a 2-wheeler & is awesome at it!

October - This was a wonderful month because we found out we are going to add baby #4 in June! Grandma & Grandpa come for a visit, kids have fun playing outside in the cooler weather & start playing soccer with our little church league.

November - Sam starts a new job with Chevron!  We enjoy having extra time to reflect on all we have to be grateful for.

December - We're settling into our new routine with a job where Daddy leaves very early but is home by 5pm!  Nathan & Alexa are getting to be great readers & Max is continuing to make us laugh & surprise us with all he knows & pays attention to.  Alisha is welcoming the 2nd trimester & finally feeling better.  Baby & kidneys are healthy.  Gender discovery is tomorrow - will be revealed on Christmas Day!  We have much to be grateful for during this holiday season.  Ultimately, it is all owed to our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are so blessed by Him & by each of you!

Today we got together with another set of twins! Caden & Addison are just a month younger than Nathan & Alexa and were born at Texas Women's also! I met their mom (Laurie) through an email list I got on while on bed rest in the hospital. There was another mom who was supposed to join us who also has boy/girl twins their age-- but she couldn't make it. What a picture that would have been!

Nathan McKay Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:37 a.m., weighs 5 lbs. 8.5 oz, & is 20 in. long Alexa Dawn Oldroyd Born August 4th at 6:38 a.m., weighs 4 lbs. 5.5 oz, & is 1 6.75 in. long We are so excited that they are finally here! The C-Section went very well & Alisha is recovering well, with the help of pain meds! Nathan needs quite a bit of help with breathing but is improving. We’re told that he may get his ventilator tube out today & they would help him breathe using a C-pap. He breathes ok on his own so he mostly now just needs some pressure to remind him to breathe. He is still in the highest level of the NICU but is doing well. He’ll be in there for at least a few days after we get to go home. Alexa is tiny but doing extremely well. Alisha was able to hold her while still in the OR before she needed some oxygen help. She only had to stay on the oxygen until 11 a.m. and is still in the lower level NICU.
